Fourth giCASES dissemination seminar in Salzburg, Austria, 29. November 2017

The giCASES partner “University of Salzburg/Z_GIS” is organising the seminar “Co-creation of knowledge and collaborative learning as tools to foster innovation in higher education and business”.
The seminar will take place on 29. November 2017 at the Natural Science Faculty of the University of Salzburg and will bring together representatives from the consortium partners, representatives from universities and private companies active in the geospatial field, similar projects and other public and private organisations. The ERASMUS+ National Agency (OEAD) will also be represented in Salzburg. Find the detailed workshop progamme here!

Main outcomes of the Land@Slide project

After two and a half years, the FFG-ASAP project Land@Slide (EO-based landslide mapping: from methodological developments to automated web-based information delivery) was completed at the end of August 2017. The main outcome is a pre-operational web service for landslide mapping based on Earth Observation data, which has been developed in close collaboration with stakeholders and potential users.

EO for humanitarian action: Activities in October

In October, Z_GIS  ̶ supported by Spatial Services GmbH ̶ delivered first-hand information products for the current Rohingya crisis in Bangladesh. The information was used to better plan aid measures by the epidemiologist team on the ground. Doctors without borders Austria (MSF) presented its emergency relief-activities in an exhibition in the city centre of Salzburg at the beginning of the month – joined by Z_GIS.

SemEO project nearing its completion: Towards a semantic content based image and information retrieval system

The FFG-ICT of the Future exploratory project SemEO (Semantic enrichment of optical earth observation data to enhance spatio-temporal querying capabilities) is nearing its completion. For more information on the project see the recent GEO Blog post.
