Danubius Young Scientist Award 2017

Congratulations to Z_GIS researcher Sebastian d’Oleire-Oltmanns, who has received the Danubius Young Scientist Award 2017! The approach, which was provided with the EC Joint Research Center (JRC), aimed to apply and transfer the S3 benchmarking tool. It was developed as part of the McIndicator project.

Insights into the world of Geoinformatics

About 100 pupils and 40 teachers from a variety of high schools attended the 2017 GIS Day event at the Z_GIS iDEAS:lab to explore geospatial technologies and applications.

Academic Excellence Prize 2017

This Prize is presented by the UNIGIS International Association (UIA) to students, who submit the best Master thesis during the academic year and are nominated by their UNIGIS sites. Ingo Rickmeyer (UNIGIS Salzburg) won the 1st place for his thesis on “spatial point patterns resulting from social media feeds”.

Big Earth Data - Z_GIS prototype examined internationally

Prof. Blaschke presented the architecture and prototypical implementation developed by the OBIA research group at the 'High-level workshop' in China in the context of (structured) big data. Representatives of national and supranational portals from GEOSS, DRL, JRC, Australia discussed Salzburg's SCBIR architecture in the context of the developing Chinese solution.
